I love writing and I love to share!
As a foreigner living in France since 2008, I would say that a holiday in Paris will not allow you to capture the soul of this people. This takes time, takes commitment, it takes effort to understand them and I dare say, before we can love them, we need to hate them a bit before.
I would like to share with you my impressions and what I’ve learnt from this plunge into French culture, one of the best experiences of my life .
Yes, yes … It is true that when we talk about Paris , you think life in pink, the most desired products , brands that make you dream , a perfect love story, great wines, perfumes, their unique know-how, the remarkable architecture and art that you can contemplate in all its forms:
Or even just listening to them, because speaking French is also a kind of art!
Well, here you will find the view of an Italian-Brazilian that can say that she came out of this cultural dice being one third French.
LIBERTY, EQUALITY and FRATERNITY might not be an absolute reality here, but those are values for which it is worth to believe in and fight for.
It’s much better than to hear about ORDER and PROGRESS, especially when we realize that the “order” there means: stay in your place and shut up, while the “progress” one can only wonder where it got lost in the way…
No questions then! For us Brazilians, we are very loyal, very faithful to our Lord to risk our questions lead us to blasphemy!
Finally, this blog is an invitation to share a view of the world, our society and ourselves as citizens.
I’ll try here to open a small window to show what I have learned with France and the French. I believe that all countries in the world have something to learn with the amazing French people, who I hated before I loved.
This culture that put my prejudices upside down me and made me question everything I thought I knew with certainty.
They say that Paris is the city of lights, but I realized that the light comes from the French people themselves.
